North Dakota State Capitol
The North Dakota State Capitol is the tallest capitol building in the United States at 19 stories, and it anchors the north end of Bismarck's Capitol grounds along Boulevard Avenue. The building is open for public tours Monday through Friday, and the observation deck on the 18th floor delivers a sweeping view of the Missouri River valley and the surrounding plains. Group tours of the Capitol and the adjacent Heritage Center are popular with school groups, civic organizations, and visiting delegations year-round.
Buses park along the mall for legislative tours, and groups should allow 30 minutes for arrival and security screening. The grounds also include the North Dakota Heritage Center and State Museum directly adjacent.
